As previously mentioned, Blogger Template Designer (BTD) is a nice tool to adjust templates to meet your personal need and style. While it's offer other useful customizations, currently I would like to highlight and showcase BTD's ability to customize columns (the number of columns, their placement and width). All templates labeled as BTD Compatible can be customized in the same way as discussed here.
The screenshot you see above, is using a hybrid 2 and 3 column layout with right sidebar positioning. I've changed the width from the default value of 930px to 1000px (currently this is the maximum allowable width value in BTD), while maintaining the value of 360px for the sidebar. Footer section is using a standard two-column layout.
